BALTIMORE – June 2, 2016PRLog – The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland (LLF), together with Lifebridge Health and Countermind, LLC, is proud to announce the unveiling of “Swipe to Donate Life” at the Sinai Hospital Donor Memorial Wall. The Sinai Hospital Donor Memorial Wall will be dedicated at a memorial ceremony on June 9,2016 at 5:30 pm. The event will be attended by donor family members, transplant recipients, and staff from The LLF and Lifebridge Health hospitals. Then Donor Memorial Wall is made up of individual name plates honoring the hospital’s generous organ and tissue donors. An interactive monitor kiosk installed on the wall will feature educational information and the “Swipe to Donate Life” app. While the “Swipe to Donate Life” app has been implemented in Maryland and other states, this is the first use of the app enabling the public to enter a secure organ and tissue donor registry at the site of a Donor Memorial wall, at any time, independent of the presence of an organization representative or app operator.n

Sinai Hospital Donor Memorial Wall is the first in the country to offer “Swipe to Donate Life” access 24/7 at a donor memorial wall. “Swipe to Donate Life”n has been implemented in Maryland since March 2015. This fully customized app runs on a mobile device (such as iPhone or iPad) and, equipped with an sled accessory from Barcoding, Inc., allowing an individual to register as organ and tissue donors by scanning the driver’s license barcode. The donor’s information is then securely added to the Donate Life Maryland Registry in real time. Amy Perry, President of Sinai Hospital and Executive Vice President of Lifebridge Health, said, “Sinai Hospital is honored to be home to the nation’s first interactive registration donor memorial wall, where we hope the inspiring donor and recipient stories, as well as the easy-to-use kiosk, will encourage visitors and employees to consider and choose organ and tissue donation. We are pleased to work with The Living Legacy Foundation on this important initiative as we acknowledge and thank these generous donors and their families.”

The “Swipe to Donate Life” interactive registry kiosk was funded through a generous donation from the W.D. “Pete” Class Foundation. The Class family was impacted by donation when their son, Towson University football player Gavin Class, received a liver transplant in 2013.  Charlie Alexander, President and CEO of The LLF, said, “With over 120,000 people currently on the organ transplant waiting list, it is imperative that every person who wishes ton save lives as an organ and tissue donor takes action and registers. We are proud to work with Lifebridge Health and Countermind to make saving lives through organ and tissue donation as easy as possible. This wall will allow potential donors to be inspired by the names and stories of our many generous local donors and immediately act by registering to save lives as a donor themselves.” Chuck Krutsinger, CEO of Countermind, said, “As a living donor myself, I am proud to be part of the important work of organ donor registration. The LLF is changing the game of donor registration by placing Swipe to Donate Life on a donor wall where the call to save lives through donation will be powerful and continual. Countermind and Barcoding, Inc. look forward to seeing the ongoing, positive impact of mobile data capture technology on donor initiatives, not only in the state of Maryland, but across the United States.”
